What got you into this business in the first place?
"Saturday Live," as it was called at the time - FIT's Saturday
program for high school students.
Who was a big influence in your career?
My father. Growing up watching him earn and control all
the money in the house motivated me to be a full-time
career woman, kids and all.
What was "your finest moment," the thing you're most proud of?
Giving birth to Aidan.
What was your most embarrassing moment in this business?
Accidentally walking into a client's men's room - and seeing more than my fair share of
several men.
What attracted you to Parham Santana?
After the high standard of design, great personalities in a human-friendly environment.
Do you have a method for coming up with ideas and solutions for clients?
Small block of time, a pencil, clean paper, focus.
What makes a great brand?
One that knows what you want and keeps it coming, with freshness right when you need
it.
What driving career goals do you still have?
To be a better speaker and presenter.
What talent do you wish you had?
The ability to sing.
If you had to live on a desert island, what would you miss
most?
Aidan, Tess and Brian (my son, daughter and husband).
Is there any food that helps you think more creatively?
Anything that doesn't weigh me down. And probably
caffeine.
What's your favorite sports team?
Purely by osmosis, the Yankees.
What frustrates you the most?
Regret, so I make a point to never do it.
Tell us about your pets?
I have one cat, Flo. She's about 17. Still feisty when she feels the need.
What was growing up like for you?
Early years, sweet and happy. Later, difficult & rebellious.
What do you do for a good time when you're not working?
Playing and reading with Aidan, dinner with Brian, great laughs with friends.
What was college like for you?
Lots of hard work, long hours, idealism, happiness.
What are your favorite Internet sites?
Gothamist.com, NYTimes.com, babble.com (yes, it's true),
urbanbaby.com (again, yes).
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Fear to do or try things.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Beloved imported Parmigiano-Reggiano, bought weekly at
$20 per pound.
What is your most treasured possession?
My healthy body and mind (though I don't always treat them that way).
What is your motto?
This too shall pass.
What is your current state of mind?
Hopeful. Calm. Excited.
What is your most marked characteristic?
Hopefully something good, like honesty or kindness.
But the reality is probably more like: A ceaseless desire to indulge in delicious food.
