Rolling Stone has announced a new initiative to license the company’s trademarks in consumer products. The new licensing initiative is in addition to the recently opened RSLA, a restaurant and lounge located at the Hollywood & Highland Center in downtown Los Angeles.
When Rolling Stone was founded in 1967 by Jann S. Wenner, he stated in his first editors’ letter that the editorial mission was to be “not just about music, but the things and attitudes that music embraces.” It is this spirit that has allowed Rolling Stone to grow and shape with the times for over 40 years, following and reporting on youth culture’s ever-shifting political and social values as reflected in popular music.
Parham Santana is working with Rolling Stone and its licensing agent IMG to develop both fashion-based products (that draw inspiration from the magazine’s rock and roll roots and irreverent attitude), as well as musical products.
