Beginning summer of 2015, John Parham joins the faculty of Pratt Institute to teach a graduate level course, “Marketing for Designers: Where Creativity Meets Commerce,” at the Pratt Manhattan Center in New York City.
“Marketing for Designers: Where Creativity Meets Commerce” teaches students how to harness proven and repeatable methodologies for branding and communication to create commercial success for themselves and their future clients.
Students will gain an understanding of how design contributes to and enhances commerce, as well as how a purposeful and strategic approach to design is key to creating solutions that lead to commercial success.
Emphasis is placed on how to present ideas strategically, including how to use qualitative and quantitative research to validate creative solutions that 'sell-in' to the client, and 'sell-through' to the consumer. John’s course incorporates real-world case studies and measurable results from multiple product categories that are contemporary, relevant, and in-market today.
John Parham is a proud graduate of Pratt Institute, where he received his M.S. in Communication Design in 1983. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to give back to my alma mater and continue Pratt’s tradition of working professionals bringing real world knowledge and experience into the classroom,” says John. “I also look forward to inviting my friends and associate to lend their expertise as guest lecturers. See you in class!" says John.
